Kings vs. Lakers: What an embarrassing game. Looking forward to the Mavericks’ game this weekend.

Today’s my thesis defense. At last, four years of graduate school culminates today. And so far, there hasn’t been a reason not to feel good about today. Thanks for being here Silverh.

Sleep problems.

I had been working on my presentation on Friday (that’s tomorrow). Fortunately I had checked my plots in my paper and found some errors last-minute, and results are more convincing now. I showed it to Ric yesterday and he was psyched. I was supposed to give him an updated version of my paper last night, but when sundown came I felt sleepy and decided to just start early today to work on it.

I went home last night after having a quick light dinner. Warmed up some water to soak in so I could sleep better this time. I thought I had myself psychologically ready to have a restful sleep. I slept even later than usual, seeing the clock strike even at 3 am. What’s the matter with me? I haven’t had a decent sleep for a while now. The longest (and probably most rejuvenating) rest I could remember in the recent past is that time Nandy, Cia, Ajay and I stayed out ’til very late after a long afternoon-til-early-morning trip.

I think I might need medication, but I don’t know what. I usually resent consulting a physician, but I think I should go to one now.

WBSV Eps that made an impression: (will summarize when I finish watching season 2)

Visage : Not too impressed by the storyline, but the events are interesting. However evil it may sound, I must be glad to see Whitney out of the story. Disappointing point is the weak development, if any at all, of Lex’s relationship with Helen.

Insurgence : Darkness manifests more clearly from Lex Luthor. But IMHO, his actions are still justified clearly. Who wouldn’t be ticked off at his arrogant father.

Prodigal : Despite the many loopholes in the story, in the big picture the episode qualifies as a good twist. I gotta hand it to all the actors, they were splendid in this episode. Highlights would be, first : Lex working in the Kent farm, and second: the ending. The look of triumph in Lex’s face is priceless. This episode ranks first in my list so far.

Lilet on Yahoochat.

Lilet and I got to talk again today (that’s 3 in a row for this week!) and hopefully later again tonight, though I don’t think I have much energy to stay up til midnight later. Thing is, Cleo promised to be online later, and she rarely could go since she works nonstop in MakatiMed. I’m so in a dilemma right now… I have too much caffeine in my veins, having had coffee for dinner last night, breakfast this morning and lunch just 3 hours ago. Is that supposed to make me energized? On the contrary, I’m feeling a lot like a bundle of wilted vegetables. I guess I’ll have to call Cleo later and tell her I’m not gonna make it. I’ll email Lilet and Marla too. Major bummer.

I almost forgot to watch the game.

Kings won 100-95! It was a fun game to watch for several reasons:
- Miller (S) injured his arm, so
- Divac (S) scored his first 3-pointer this season
- Yao Ming (H) fouled out (kind of lucky, some calls were questionable, like Steve’s block called as goaltending),
- Francis (H) ‘accidentally’ elbowed a referee on the face (while the whistle was on the referee’s mouth too!), and all throughout the second half you can see the looks of disbelief on his face.

Add to that, the not so rare but just as spectacular delivery of Bibby’s assists and Peja’s perimeter shots! Totally awesome game! Though it felt sorta scary, coz they’re still fumbling on defense… very dangerous. It could cost them their traipse to finals yet again. Divac may have saved this game in the 4th quarter, but we’ll see if this potential hall-of-famer can do more, or if Miller gets to his feet in the next game…

… which simply cannot be missed. Lakers vs Kings. Unlike last year, the Kings are my bet this time. I know the Lakers are good, but the Kings lead in games won so far this season!! Go Kings! (Sorry Anthony, I know you’re rooting for L.A.)

(pic) M Rosenbaum on Smallville

Silverh made a comment the other day that I am a character-type person when it comes to movies, television series. It’s a very good observation, since yes, I am mostly drawn to a story when there is an interesting complex character in it. I am no fan of the latest teeniebopper series showing on tv these days, coz they usually are no-brainer shows that are mostly visual, if not eye-candy type of actors in them. I thought WB’s Smallville was that sort. Well, actually, it sort of is. I’ve grown sick of hypes, especially in the media, when it comes to tv shows and I’ve just given up on watching tv at times. Want examples? I have a lot, but I don’t wanna go about trashtalking what other people adore.

Okay then, back to WB’s Smallville. The producers are lucky that they bagged a good storyline. Superman is universally catchy. Though I’m sure the comicbook fans are anxious to see the connection on this new twist on Lex Luthor’s relationship with Clark Kent. I’ve nothing against the casting, in fact, I’ve come to grow used to them. Kristin Kreuk is too overplayed in my opinion. No, guys, I am by no means playing Hera against this doe-eyed Aphrodite. She’s lovely, yes, I won’t dispute it. And yes, I agree that a damsel-vixen is just as part of the story as the hero. I have the same sentiment towards her as I do to Kaoru in Kenshin, Erika in Daimos, and Penelope in MacGyver. The appeal to young audiences can become annoying most of the time. I can remember but one Lana-Clark scene that brought me shivers, and it had nothing to do with staring and smiling.

Nevertheless, I wouldn’t mind them playing up Lana and Clark long as the other characters develop just as well. They’ve done a good job on A. Luthor’s character. ((Applause, applause)) Yes, I do have something nice to say on the series. I am always looking forward to a scene with Lex. The Clark-Lex complex, by far, is what I think makes the series the success that it is. Pardon me for stating the obvious, but I felt it necessary to take down.

One thing I have to say to these fiction artists: Don’t disappoint me.

I have this pit in my stomach telling me that it’s gonna be hard seeing the end of this series. When obsession hits purplepenelope, there’s no stoppin’

On a different note, silverh has preliminary so-and-so going on this week, leaving me to fend for myself starting today. Oh I gotta go now, 6 pm mass and NBA action later…. Houston vs Kings. Go Sacramento!!

Last hirit before I leave for home.

Sometimes I wonder how I’d ever make it through… through this world without having you, I just wouldn’t have a clue. Sometimes it seems like this world’s closing in on me and there’s no way of breaking free, then I see you reach out for me. Sometimes I wanna give up, wanna give in, wanna quit the fight. But then I look at you baby, and everything’s alright…

When I see you smile— I can face the world, oh, you know I can do anything. When I see you smile— I see a ray of light, oh I see it shining right through the rain. When I see you smile— baby when I see you smile at me.

Baby there’s nothing in this world that could ever do what the touch of your hand can do. It’s like nothing I ever knew, and when the rain is fallin’, I don’t feel it ‘coz you’re here with me. And one look at you baby is all I ever need. It’s all that I ever need.

I’m afraid I’m hooked.

I needed the shelter of someone’s arms… and there you were.
I needed someone to understand my ups and downs… and there you were.
With sweet love and devotion, deeply touching my emotion, I want to stop and thank you baby.

I close my eyes at night, wondering where would I be without you in my life. Everything I did was just a bore, everywhere I went it seems I’d been there before. But you brightened up for me all of my days, with a love so sweet in so many ways. I want to stop and thank you baby. You were better for me than I was for myself. For me, there’s you and there ain’t nobody else. I want to stop and thank you baby. I just want to stop and thank you baby.

How sweet it is to be loved by you. :)
