Silverh made a comment the other day that I am a character-type person when it comes to movies, television series. It’s a very good observation, since yes, I am mostly drawn to a story when there is an interesting complex character in it. I am no fan of the latest teeniebopper series showing on tv these days, coz they usually are no-brainer shows that are mostly visual, if not eye-candy type of actors in them. I thought WB’s Smallville was that sort. Well, actually, it sort of is. I’ve grown sick of hypes, especially in the media, when it comes to tv shows and I’ve just given up on watching tv at times. Want examples? I have a lot, but I don’t wanna go about trashtalking what other people adore.

Okay then, back to WB’s Smallville. The producers are lucky that they bagged a good storyline. Superman is universally catchy. Though I’m sure the comicbook fans are anxious to see the connection on this new twist on Lex Luthor’s relationship with Clark Kent. I’ve nothing against the casting, in fact, I’ve come to grow used to them. Kristin Kreuk is too overplayed in my opinion. No, guys, I am by no means playing Hera against this doe-eyed Aphrodite. She’s lovely, yes, I won’t dispute it. And yes, I agree that a damsel-vixen is just as part of the story as the hero. I have the same sentiment towards her as I do to Kaoru in Kenshin, Erika in Daimos, and Penelope in MacGyver. The appeal to young audiences can become annoying most of the time. I can remember but one Lana-Clark scene that brought me shivers, and it had nothing to do with staring and smiling.

Nevertheless, I wouldn’t mind them playing up Lana and Clark long as the other characters develop just as well. They’ve done a good job on A. Luthor’s character. ((Applause, applause)) Yes, I do have something nice to say on the series. I am always looking forward to a scene with Lex. The Clark-Lex complex, by far, is what I think makes the series the success that it is. Pardon me for stating the obvious, but I felt it necessary to take down.

One thing I have to say to these fiction artists: Don’t disappoint me.

I have this pit in my stomach telling me that it’s gonna be hard seeing the end of this series. When obsession hits purplepenelope, there’s no stoppin’

On a different note, silverh has preliminary so-and-so going on this week, leaving me to fend for myself starting today. Oh I gotta go now, 6 pm mass and NBA action later…. Houston vs Kings. Go Sacramento!!
