You wonder why you’re in this world. Then the people that make life worth living come to mind. Then you stop asking. :)

Dear Diary,

Sigh. Another day gone, too fast.

Bakit ganun, di ba “Time flies when you’re having fun”?

Pa’no ba magkaroon ng ganung talent? Kailangan ko na ba bumili ng PDA?

hehehe.

Nostalgia.

… remembers CSA days…

When I started learning to play the guitar, I started with soft rock songs by artist groups like Tesla and Led Zeppelin. Well actually, my dad chided me to start with folk/60’s/70’s songs by Denver, Elvis and the Beatles. I did, but later rummaged through my brother’s tablatures of rock bands, which looked more interesting to learn when I got bored of repetitive chord patterns. (Would you believe, I used to play Stairway to Heaven, Nothing Else Matters, and Love Song, thought my fingers have minds of their own) The radio waves were dominated by the likes GnR and Jon Bon Jovi. Hearing songs by these groups are nostalgic, and mental images of my first ukulele, junior guitar, acoustic guitar come flooding back. Faint recollections of school programs, Rupert’s “I Will”, Ace’s “Blackbird”, Mark M’s indiscriminate strumming on breaks, and well, my brother playing Tesla’s slow Love Song (often a half key off while singing hehe - peace, Kuya).

Fond memories.

I need to get a new guitar.

TGIFriday!

Tuesdays and Fridays I have graduate classes to attend to, but it’s okay, they turn out to be note-taking sessions for me. Fortunately I have ample time to study lessons on Wednesdays now, not needing to worry about administrative work like before. :) Quitting isn’t sounding too bad at this point. Teaching 3 classes isn’t so bad even.

In particular, this Friday is special since it’s Father’s Day weekend. I’m contemplating on getting my dad the “credit-card” kit thingy that Ajay and I found in some store… where was it again? The one selling the Swiss stuff?

I am a lampshade/desk lamp person.
I need to get myself a lamp. The one I have at the moment is coming loose at the light bulb connector. I prefer having a lamp on my desk coz the flourescent seems to be straining my eyes. It’s darker for reading/writing than I thought.

I need a bed too! I’m still torn between getting a normal bed, or a sofa bed. So I can switch my bedroom to a lounging area when sleeping is unnecessary. I want to get a couch potato too! Hehe, exclusive for PS2 gamers.

On moving to a new place.

I’m excited to move to Hardin ng Rosas. I’ll be getting my keys to the place by tomorrow, and I’ll be able to move my stuff a little at a time. Issa agreed that I can come and go as I please starting tomorrow, even though I’ll be officially staying there on July.

HELP NEEDED.
Ajay’s recent collection of Dan Brown novels has grown to 3 books, and we’re still searching for the 4th one (Digital Fortess). If you see a copy of the book anywhere in the Metro can you tell us please? Thanks!

Oh and if anyone wants to lend a hend in transporting my stuff to my new place (especially if you have a car), you are most welcome!

Congratulations to the Detroit Pistons - NBA World Champs. No one predicted that early on in the season.

Moving out.

I recently moved to a new office. It’s nicer in some way than the spacious common room I used to share with other young faculty members, since there’s more privacy. And hell of a lot easier to upkeep! Small space, but more tolerable circumstances.

=====

Soon I’ll be moving to a new place. I’ve packed most of my books, coloring books, drawing paraphernalia, stitching paraphernalia and cosmopolitans (almost full box! a pc monitor box!). I have yet to pack my kikay stuff and clothes. The major problem would be packing my closet. It was hell to assemble now I have to put it apart!

Anyhow, I’ll be staying at Hardin ng Rosas, an apartment-like group of buildings situationed at the periphery of the campus at the western side.

Linkin Park’s Meteora Manila Tour.
Sigh. Why can’t I go? :( It’s too bad that concerts like these would draw a certain type of crowd which can either kill me or send me to the emergency room. Linkin Park rocks!

Part 1: Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental

Two days later than I promised to do a little storytellin’. Better now than never anyways. Been busy preparin’ for the coming school semester, plus a scheduled “moving upstairs” ritual that I need to get ready for. Unclear? What I mean is that Snia and I will be moving our stuff to a new (much more cramped) office. Just when I’m beginning to get comfortable in my very fresh nook here on the ground floor ever since Ajay moved out.

I’m still sorting out the images I’ve collected from our Visayas-Mindanao trip last week, and it doesn’t look like I can finish it soon. Ajay and I will be groovin’ with Ric, Cel and Dr. M. in Batangas over the weekend.

SO what’s been up? Well, you all know I was out of town for approx 2 weeks. The first week I was with 5 females (hard to use ‘girls’ since some are questionably either too grown up or a wee bit immature) trekking Negros, Bohol, Cebu and Northern Mindanao. How beautiful our country is!

The first few days we were at the MSP 2004 in Dumaguete City.
Adorable Silliman University. Set in the heart of the City of Dumaguete: Sleepy City. One story I heard said that the crime rate in the City is so low, that the most recent criminals caught in the city were apprehended almost immediately (they were snatching cellphones while aboard a motorbike) and were found to be “dayos” or non-natives of the city. And why call it a sleepy city? Not many establishments are open beyond 6.30 pm!! Talk about no nightlife. But people are swarming by the sea, “promenade” by the length of their “boulevard” even up til very late in the evening, so I wouldn’t totally say NO nightlife. But being the serene and “sleepy” city as it is, Dumaguete is the perfect place for academics. Not to mention calm romantics. I fell in love with Dumaguete when we had to leave. Felt homesick for it while in Cebu!

Very near Silliman U, which is why they call the university “The Campus by the Sea”.

((to continue later…))
